"I wish I wasn't a complete idiot when it comes to reading another person's feelings..."
NAGASHIMA KAZUKI
|
Kazuki is the current vice-secretary of St.Angel's Student Council. Most, if not all of the Student Council members have at least one strong point relating to their progress in class to become one of the Student Council members--but Kazuki's the only odd one out. She does not have any strong points during classes, adding the fact that she is (currently) the only non-Angel Gamer in the school makes her as one of the biggest outlier among the students. However, it was mentioned that Kazuki is not the first non-Angel Gamer student that ever enrolled in the school, and probably not the last either. Many questions on how she got accepted in the school or become a Student Council member aside, Kazuki didn't use her status as a non-Angel Gamer to differentiate herself from everyone...but instead; she just get along with pretty much everyone normally, and contribute some things from a non-Angel Gamer perspective for the Student Council. Kazuki is shown to be a girl who seeks positivity in her life and trying to spread the same mentality towards her friends as well, with her modest yet big sister-like personality. She have a younger brother, Saki, who is also one of the students in St. Angel.
Personality
- Completely the opposite of her brother- Kazuki is a lot more friendlier and approachable, she's also shown to be a girl who cares a lot for her friends and doesn't like being alone. When alone, it's almost like Kazuki cannot become herself.
- Another contrast with her brother who's more wiser and talented, Kazuki is a lot more clumsier and reckless. She frequently mess up during her Student Council-related works, and is not the greatest at any subjects either. Kazuki is trying to improve herself from her weaknesses, at least.
- Kazuki is also a very honest and understanding girl. Due to past mistakes, she aims to become more observant towards her friends and tries to help them recovering from mourning over their misfortunes--though, she also admitted that she's still learning on how to understand a person's feelings, and may still make mistakes along the way. She's even willing to learn more about Angel Game--which she couldn't participate in, solely because she wants to understand her Angel Gamer friends better.
- While Kazuki doesn't want the fact that she's not an Angel Gamer or she had almost no talents become an obstacle for her to get along with anyone in the school, she can't help but feel inferior towards everyone who excels in at least one interest, especially when she had none. This makes Kazuki often let herself overshadowed by everyone around her.
- Kazuki is also a very forgiving one. She once lost her friends in her past, but she never put the fault into her ex-friends-- but rather, herself (hence, the reason she wants to improve on understanding her friends). She actually never blamed Saki for everything that happened to them, and felt like it was her own miscommunications with Saki was the biggest cause of their currently awkward relationship as siblings.
Kazuki is not an Angel Gamer and doesn't own any "Heart".

Appellation by Kazuki |
Being the older of the two, Kazuki actually cares for Saki a lot. Since their childhood, Kazuki is always there for Saki even during the hardest times, and she still tries to indirectly look after Saki even after the incident that made their relationship became more distant. Kazuki actually planned to genuinely apologize to Saki once again for not understanding his feelings better in the past, though she also wanted to improve herself better before that day comes, and respected Saki's personal space for the time being. |

Despite being fellow Student Councils, Kazuki sees Takuto as the ultimate role model of the school, much like most students or teachers in St. Angel. She even called Takuto as "Takuto-sama", as a sign of honor and respect to him. Takuto being both a great leader and advisor is something Kazuki actually aims to be, though it might take time for Kazuki to even catch up to Takuto's level... Kazuki even openly admitted that she have an implied crush towards him, though Takuto himself is not aware of this...? |

While not exactly in a negative way, Kazuki is not that close to Yunosuke compared to the other Student Council members because of two things: Kazuki couldn't keep up with Yunosuke's eccentricity, and the fact that Kazuki is another one of Yunosuke's teasing subject. Even when Kazuki attempts on understanding him, it only ended up with Yunosuke messing around with her again, much to Kazuki's frustration. |

Whether she like it or not, Kazuki was mainly assigned as the vice-secretary in order to fill in Inugami's role whenever he's absence or skipping his duties. Kazuki and Inugami were classmates during middle school, that were separated when Inugami went to a different high school. At first, Kazuki was a bit reluctant towards Inugami as she didn't expect to meet an ex-classmate from her past (which she wanted to avoid), she was also under the impression that Inugami was another "fan" of Saki, that only recognize Kazuki from her brother's fame...but, eventually, Kazuki learned that Inugami was the only person who noticed about Kazuki's struggles, that she never told anyone... |

Manami is the first of the Student Council member that she could get along with without much struggles, that leads to both of them become consultants of each other. Kazuki may not have the same level of intelligence like Manami, but she's willing to help him improve on his goals, as well as seeking advice from Manami whenever she messed up in her duties... |

Although Kazuki is not one of the "unfortunate" ones who are considered eligible enough to receive a "Heart", she does share a portion of her past with her brother. Though, if anything that Kazuki strongly dislikes, it's anything or anyone that tries to bring up her past. Kazuki wanted to forget everything that happened during her days before she transferred to St. Angel, mainly because Kazuki doesn't want to remember her old self who did a lot of mistakes that she didn't want to happen.
During the start of middle school, Kazuki's family suddenly got caught in a car accident--both of them survive, but their parents was deceased since then and the siblings later lived with their relatives. Their relatives are the ones that taught Saki how to play piano, and pretty much that's the first thing that made Kazuki and Saki began stopped sharing anything in common. Unlike Saki, Kazuki didn't have any talents or subjects she's interested in--though that did not bother her at all at first. Socializing and making new friends is pretty much her only forte. Things such as hanging out with friends after school, doing study groups together...she's almost never seen alone. However, not too long after that...Kazuki felt like her friends were hiding something from her, and she later slightly overheard that her friends were actually tired of her for being "too friendly".
A lot of questions were also answered after a certain incident happened. Saki, who failed his major piano competition and later hospitalized from an accident, made her realize that Saki's friends actually never cared for him, and immediately thought that she can't stay separated from her brother. She visited her school again after the accident, with all her friends somehow ignoring her presence out of nowhere. It happened too sudden, that Kazuki later found out it was their plans all along to ignore her when his brother lost his fame. Instead of blaming her brother, she actually blamed herself instead, for focusing too much on socializing without knowing anything about her friends' thoughts. To restart her "life", she decided she'll accompany Saki to St. Angel even if she's not an Angel Gamer, and was accepted after some discussion with the teachers and staff of the school. Removing her "friendly" self is something she couldn't do...but this time, she still doesn't want to be alone, and wants to change into a more honest person who'll understand her friends' and her brother's feelings--and she will shine as herself regardless of how "talentless" she is, never walking under her brother's shadows anymore.
- "Which is better: not having friends at all, or having friends, but often ignored by them?"
- "People in this school think I don't understand anything such as hardships in life, only because I'm not an Angel Gamer."
- "Stop...telling me that I... haven't changed at all. I'm trying to forget...everything that already happened..."
Trivia
- Kazuki does have an interest in music and reading (especially light novels), much like her brother, however these interests are mostly influenced from her former friends which she considers not something "she come up from her own".
Significant changes:
- Until a recent change in 2018, Saki's and Kazuki's last name was formerly written as "Nakajima". This was changed to avoid confusion with existing celebrities of the same name.
- She was initially planned as an Angel Gamer who uses wind element (like Kiyo) during her first concept, later changed to a personal mechanic to Takuto in her second concept, before finally changing it to her third and current one.
- She is also the first two supporting characters that were created, with the other one being Ayumu. Like Ayumu's, she was more on Kokoro's side for her initial concept.
- She was actually the secretary for the Student Council at first, but a later change in 2019 changed her role into a vice-secretary.
Etymology:
- Her last name means "long/leader; island".
- Her first name means "harmony; hope".
