"I'll always be a loser, forever and ever, for eternity."
OOTAKE INUGAMI
|
Assigned as the secretary of St. Angel's Student Council, Inugami owns a different specialty than most of the student council--which is the fact that he's a "naturally talented" student when it comes to both academics and Angel Game; especially for his strong, eidetic memory and fast learning skills. However, despite all of that, his attitude is actually the least reliable for being a Student Council, that some teachers would just ignore his bad points solely for his talents that are not as easy to find in most students. Inugami does everything in his own will, to the point of shamelessly sleeping in the Student Councils office that frequently. He even compared himself with a hopeless, abandoned dog that only eats and sleeps, along with calling himself as a "loser" (makeinu). He seems to know Kazuki during middle school.
Personality
- Having the status of an all-rounder, Inugami can quickly adapt or gain a skill with minimal practices and efforts, as most would call this kind of trait to be a "natural talent". While the "jack of all trades, master of none" rules still applies--Inugami's skills in Angel Games and academics being considered as more than average is enough to obtain the honour of being one of the Student Council members, and he can pretty much improve better if he wasn't as lazy.
- Often slacking off and rather take a nap than actually doing anything, Inugami is a huge recalcitrant; he hates obeying to orders and rather follows his own heart when it comes to doing anything--which makes Inugami come off as quite selfish and self-centered. As mentioned, while other Student Council members and teachers usually just ignore this bad attitude of Inugami, he often argues with Takuto because of this.
- Not only he owns a bad relationship with someone like Takuto, but Inugami is also seen as quite rebellious and aggressive. He's willing to fight back anyone who disagrees with his actions, sometimes even to the point of skipping classes or Student Council meetings.
- Never to see anything in a positive light, Inugami pretty much doesn't care about his own conditions, or people's feelings as he already lost his will to continue his life. Mentioning self-loathing and suicidal things quite lightly during conversations, some characters faced a hard time talking to Inugami because of his negativity. He even mentioned that the main reason he sleeps a lot because it's one of the way to "die faster", as he's actually afraid of taking his life by his own hands.
- While Inugami doesn't show this much, Inugami used to face the experience of being abandoned or betrayed by people who he used to trust. This was also briefly implied when Inugami mentioned that he's "nothing but a dog that can only bark when crying, only to get ignored by people that the dog used to see as his friends". It was also hinted that Inugami developed a slight fear of being attached to anyone because of this.

Appellation by Inugami |
Both being assigned as the secretaries, they often work closely together. While Inugami knew both of the twins during middle school, he's more familiar with Kazuki as they previously shared the same class. Both acknowledged that their relationship didn't expand beyond "fellow classmates", but Inugami seems to often watch over Kazuki from the sidelines in the past (which Kazuki didn't notice), and even frequently compares the differences between Kazuki in the past with the current Kazuki. Among anyone else, Inugami is the only one who's harsh about her insecurities and inferiority complex, saying even someone like him needs to start somewhere to be "talented". |

Like the ying and yang, Inugami and Manami are pretty much the complete opposite of each other (among most character combinations with contrasting personalities). As opposed to Manami's view towards Inugami, Inugami is the one that is envious of Manami who had dependable friends that trusted him until the very end. Their differences does not stop both Inugami and Manami from becoming friends, kinda...? |
"Manacchi" |
|
When compared to other Student Council members, Inugami seems to act the most lax towards him, to the point of almost never having doubts towards his mysteriousness. This even shows when Inugami doesn't mind participating in any of Yunosuke's gaming antics, as well as often being the first to eat any baking that Yunosuke made. |

Takuto and Inugami are obviously shown in a complete bad blood, as they always argue with each other even in front of the other members. Inugami couldn't stand Takuto's perfectionism and ideals, and often being pressured or scolded is enough to make him rebel by skipping classes or meetings. This is also one of the fact why Inugami didn't use any nicknames on Takuto, unlike the other Student Council members. |
"President" |
Inugami pretty much described his past or misfortunes to nothing but a dog. Ranging from "a lonely dog that was abandoned", "the hopeless dog that can only wait to die", he pretty much only ever describe his past with those metaphors, but not in actual detail.
Ever since Inugami was young, he had to live with his grandparents for the longest time. He have always been one of the smartest from kindergarten until elementary school, to the point of other classmates didn't want to befriend him because he was "different" from them. However, Inugami didn't care about those things at all, and continue being pampered by his grandparents... But that was until he entered middle school. Inugami grew up to become someone more quieter and having a hard time communicating, most likely because of the fact he barely socialize with others that aren't his grandparents. This leads to him being quite naive regarding his surroundings, and sometimes other classmates would indirectly bully him by telling lies or jokes that he couldn't differeniate as a truth. Even when he slowly realized that he's being made fun of, nobody seems to ever take his feelings seriously, and he didn't have the courage to fight back--that he decided to continue being the strangest loner in his class who can only ignore everything.
His misfortunes did not get any better at home...as one day, he had to face the harsh truth that his grandparents died during an accident. Inugami obtained his "Heart" ever since then--proving his own life that is now considered truly "unfortunate"--and he was immediately forced to transfer in St. Angel before he manage to graduate middle school, because neither of his parents refuse to take care of him as their own son. Inugami later believes that his reality is just a neverending nightmare that treats him like an abandoned dog, and wished he could live in his ideal world (dreams) for eternity.
- "Leave me alone. I don't have any reasons to follow people's demands anymore. I just wanna die."
- "What's the point of being 'naturally talented'...when none of the thoughts from my head...will come out as words..."
- "I hate that I could remember things well. In the end, I'm left all alone, crying by myself...Just like a pet dog, that everyone's tired of..."
Trivia
- The name of his Special Move uses a German term that is described as a mental depression, disappointment or apathy caused by comparison of the actual state of the world with an ideal, dream state.

- He was also supposed to have a certain connection with Saki, but that role was replaced with Kureha.
- Inugami and Manami were first created with the intention of being minor characters, as well as plot device (for Kazuki and Yunosuke respectively) until they were decided to have their own prominent roles.

- His last name means "big bamboo".
